Echo was a beautiful, woodland nymph, who helped the Olympian god, Zeus, cheat on his wife, Hera. After some time, Hera caught on to their schemes, and decided to punish Echo. She did this by taking away Echo’s voice. Therefore, she was only able to repeat the words of others.
